Jude Bellingham tells England coach his best position after latest win

England midfielder Jude Bellingham has told manager Gareth Southgate where he would prefer to play following his starring role in the Three Lions’ 3-1 victory over Scotland.

Bellingham scored a goal as England defeated Scotland at Hampden Park in a friendly match on Tuesday.

The Real Madrid star was also involved in the build-up to Phil Foden’s opener before scoring minutes later and rounding off the night with an assist for Harry Kane.

Bellingham, who plays in a more advanced role as No. 10 at Real Madrid, was deployed by Southgate to play in a similar position against Scotland.

Speaking at his post-match press conference, Bellingham told Channel 4: “I was not happy with how I played against Ukraine [on Saturday]. It was not anywhere near my best, and the motivation is always to get back to your best. I got somewhere close tonight.

“I know it depends on the system we play, and we’ve got so many amazing players to accommodate, and so the team comes first always. I really enjoyed playing in that [same] position today.”
