DeepL Launches Voice-to-Voice Translation Suite for Meetings and Apps

Translation technology company DeepL has unveiled a suite of real-time voice-to-voice translation tools aimed at transforming multilingual communication across business and frontline environments. The company, long recognized for its high-quality text translation services, is now expanding into live speech translation with products designed for meetings, mobile and web conversations, and group interactions for workers in the field.

The new offering includes integrations for platforms such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams, enabling participants to hear real-time translations while others speak in their native languages or to follow translated text on screen. An early-access program is currently open to organizations interested in testing the system. DeepL has also launched a standalone solution for mobile and web-based conversations, as well as a group conversation tool that allows participants to join via QR code—useful in training sessions, workshops, and other collaborative settings.

A key feature of the system is its ability to learn and adapt to custom vocabulary, including industry-specific terminology, company names, and personal names, improving accuracy in specialized contexts. DeepL says it controls the entire voice-to-voice technology stack, though the current process converts speech to text, translates it, and then converts it back to speech. The company aims to eventually develop a fully end-to-end voice translation model that bypasses the text step entirely.

CEO Jarek Kutylowski noted that while text translation has been a core strength, real-time voice translation presented new technical challenges—particularly balancing low latency with high accuracy. He also highlighted the potential for AI-powered translation to reshape customer service, enabling companies to support customers in languages where qualified staff are scarce or costly to hire.

DeepL enters a competitive landscape that includes startups such as Sanas, which modifies accents in real time for call centers; Camb.AI, focused on speech synthesis and media localization; and Palabra, which aims to preserve both meaning and speaker voice in real-time translation. With its established reputation in text translation and a growing suite of voice tools, DeepL is positioning itself as a major player in the evolving field of live multilingual communication.
