Governor Nwifuru Approves Immediate Gratuity Payment to Retirees in Ebonyi State

Governor Francis Nwifuru has issued a directive for the prompt payment of gratuities to retirees in Ebonyi State. This announcement was made by the Commissioner of Information and Orientation, Jude Okpor, during a press briefing held at the new Government House in Centenary City, Abakaliki.

The Governor’s decision was reached at the state executive council meeting, where it was agreed that the payment of gratuity to retirees would commence immediately. A total sum of N3,851,763,617.65 has been approved for disbursement. The council determined that there are currently 1,715 eligible beneficiaries (retirees) in the state, which led to the approval of this amount.

In addition to the gratuity payment, Governor Nwifuru also announced the government’s plan to provide palliatives to alleviate the impact of fuel subsidy removal on the residents of Ebonyi State.

He stated, “We have made significant progress in arranging the distribution of over 100,000 bags of rice and other essential items to vulnerable households in the state. The council has urged the committee in charge to expedite preparations for the immediate distribution of these palliatives.”
