Super Eagles, Placed in Pot 2, Brace Themselves for Tough AFCON 2023 Draw

Nigeria’s national football team, the Super Eagles, have been assigned to Pot 2 for the eagerly anticipated draw of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The seedings for the draw were unveiled by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) on Thursday afternoon.

Jose Peseiro’s men could potentially face a formidable lineup in the group stage, with the possibility of clashing with host nation, Cote d’Ivoire; reigning champions, Teranga Lions of Senegal; Atlas Lions of Morocco; Carthage Eagles of Tunisia; and Pharaohs of Egypt.

Alongside Nigeria in Pot 2 are football powerhouses Ghana, Cameroon, Mali, Democratic Republic of Congo, and Burkina Faso.

Pot 3 comprises South Africa, Cape Verde, Guinea, Zambia, Equatorial Guinea, and Mauritania.

Pot 4 encompasses Guinea Bissau, Namibia, Mozambique, Angola, Gambia, and Tanzania.

The much-anticipated draw ceremony is scheduled to take place in Cote d’Ivoire on Thursday, October 12.

Hosted by Cote d’Ivoire, the biennial AFCON tournament is set to captivate football enthusiasts from January 13 to February 11.
