The Chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Christopher Zakka Maikalangu, emphasizes the importance of protecting government facilities in order to foster the development of the council. Maikalangu made this call during a project inspection in various communities under the Nyanya, Orozo, Karshi, and Karu wards.
Supporting Youth Skills Development
As part of his second phase of project tours, Chairman Maikalangu visited the AMAC Skills Acquisition Centre in Jiwa. Here, more than 50 students are currently learning woodwork and metal fabrication. During his visit, Maikalangu advised the students to be dedicated to their studies as they would be responsible for constructing and supplying desks for primary schools in AMAC. He assured the students of the council’s continued support and empowerment to excel in their training.
Inspection of Key Infrastructure Projects
The AMAC chairman also inspected the construction of a solar-powered borehole in the Jiwa community. In addition, he oversaw the installation of three solar street lights in the Gwagwa-Jiwa Bypass. The project aims to improve access to clean water and enhance security in the area.
Furthermore, Maikalangu examined the progress of a 500kva by 33 lines transformer being constructed in Jiyita and Damgbma communities. These infrastructure projects are part of the council’s efforts to improve the standard of living and provide sustainable services to residents.
Commitment to Water Supply
The chairman and his team also inspected an ongoing comprehensive water supply project at Kagini by the Baptist Church. Arch. Andrew Gaza, the Head of Works and Housing, revealed that the project would supply water from the Lower Usman Dam to the entire community through multiple fetching points once completed. This initiative demonstrates AMAC’s dedication to ensuring the provision of essential amenities to its residents.
Community Appreciation
During his visit to Karmo community, Chairman Maikalangu was warmly received and praised by over 2,000 residents for the numerous projects he initiated. The chairman inspected the construction of a 2.3-kilometer road in Sabo Karmo and Idu-Gbagyi, which brought joy and relief to the community. Elder Unana Dangona expressed gratitude on behalf of the residents, commending the chairman for fulfilling his campaign promises and delivering beyond expectations.
In Damgbma community, the installation of a solar-powered borehole and a 500kva by 33 lines transformer also received immense appreciation. Danjuma Garba, a resident, expressed his gratitude for the access to clean water and improved electricity supply, which were previously lacking. The community members are delighted by the chairman’s commitment to their welfare.

Chairman Maikalangu promised to continue delivering dividends of democracy to all communities under AMAC. He urged the residents of Damgbma community to protect the government facilities in their domain, emphasizing that their safety and maintenance were crucial.
