AIG harps on synergy between police, sister agencies

The Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 8, Babatunde Ishola, has called for synergy between the Nigeria Police Force and other sister agencies.

AIG Ishola made this call during an interaction between the rank and file, the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) and various stakeholders at the Force headquarters in Lokoja.

He said that the meeting was prompted by the imperative to strategize for a more robust policing approach in Kogi State, especially in light of the upcoming gubernatorial election.

According to him, the high rate of incivility by the rank and file towards the public must be checked for more collaboration to check crimes.

The AIG charged the State Commissioner of Police to ensure that those directly involved in the gubernatorial election are adequately briefed on the rules and regulations governing their conduct, emphasizing their obligation to remain apolitical while performing their official duties.

Addressing the challenges faced by the state command of the police, he assured of necessary interventions by the authorities in charge to enhance their proactive and effective approach in tackling crimes and criminality.

In his opening remarks, Commissioner of Police Berthrand Onuoha highlighted that the AIG’s duty tour provided an opportunity for the Command to interact with the rank and file, the PCRC, and other crucial stakeholders in the state.

CP Onuoha noted that the state command has been fostering collaboration with communities and vigilantes, employing both kinetic and non-kinetic strategies to reduce crimes across the State.

Members of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), who addressed the gathering, urged the police to adopt a more civil approach towards the public and stressed the importance of increased synergy among relevant stakeholders in the fight against crimes and criminality in the state.
