The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State has commenced its membership e-registration exercise, with the state chairman, Benjamin Omale, emphasizing the importance of massive participation in the process. Omale, who flagged off the exercise in his hometown in Ohimini Local Government Area, stated that a high turnout would create opportunities and strengthen the party.
According to Omale, the e-registration exercise is crucial for the party’s growth and electoral success, including the re-election of Governor Hyacinth Alia and President Bola Tinubu in 2027. He urged party members to remain loyal and steadfast, stressing that the exercise is not a routine activity but the foundation for building the party’s political strength, electoral victory, and internal democracy.
Omale warned that ignoring the exercise would weaken the party at both state and federal levels, emphasizing that data is power in today’s political environment. He explained that the e-registration would provide a verified and credible digital membership register, determining who votes in party primaries, who qualifies for appointments, and who the party supports during elections.
The chairman noted that the exercise would also determine who chooses the party’s candidates, who represents the APC at every level, and who benefits from the party’s governance. He emphasized that control of the party’s membership is crucial, stating that “whoever controls the membership controls the party.”
Omale expressed appreciation for the support of the Executive Governor of Benue State, who understands the need for a strong and credible membership structure. He called on all stakeholders, including ward chairmen, local government chairmen, party leaders, and elected officials, to take ownership of the exercise and mobilize their people to register.
