LASTMA and Other Agencies Successfully Tackle Industrial Fire Outbreak in Ilupeju

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) and several other emergency response teams collaborated to extinguish a significant industrial fire outbreak in Ilupeju in the early hours of Saturday.

Mr. Taofiq Adebayo, the Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department at LASTMA, issued a statement confirming the incident in Lagos on Saturday.

According to Adebayo, the fire outbreak occurred at Mega Plastics Company located at No. 4, Ilupeju Bypass, next to the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Ilupeju.

“Mr. Ayo Olaosebikan (Falcon), the Traffic Officer from LASTMA’s Zone 21, confirmed that our rescue team arrived at the scene of the industrial fire outbreak at around 6:30 a.m., ahead of other emergency responders,” said Adebayo.

“As soon as we reached the site, we promptly informed other emergency responders, including the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Services, and the Nigerian Police,” he added.

While the exact cause of the fire outbreak could not be immediately determined, Olaosebikan revealed that a preliminary investigation indicated that the storage and factory section of the petrochemical company was significantly affected by the blaze.

Various emergency response agencies were present at the scene, including Federal and State Fire Services, the police, and LASTMA’s Response Unit. Fortunately, no injuries or fatalities have been reported thus far.
