The Nigerian Navy has categorically denied the authenticity of a purported list of successful candidates for its Basic Training School (NNBTS) Batch 35 Recruitment, labeling it as fake. Commodore Adedotun Ayo-Vaughan, the Director of Naval Information, made this statement in Abuja.
Faked List Brings Confusion
According to Ayo-Vaughan, the recruitment exercise took place in Lagos, Rivers, and Kaduna States. He expressed deep concern over the recent circulation of false information, which he attributed to fraudulent individuals attempting to deceive unsuspecting applicants.
Ayo-Vaughan emphasized that the Nigerian Navy has yet to release the official list of successful candidates, nor have they sent out any text messages inviting candidates for training. He called attention to the alarming rate at which unscrupulous individuals are spreading fake information regarding enlistment and recruitment into the Navy.
Intensified Efforts to Apprehend Perpetrators
The Director of Naval Information assured the public that efforts are underway to track down and arrest these miscreants. He strongly advised prospecting applicants to authenticate information exclusively from the Nigerian Navy’s official website, https://www.navy.mil.ng, as well as official social media handles, and credible mainstream media platforms.
Moreover, he issued a stern warning to mischief makers and those engaging in this unscrupulous practice, cautioning them to immediately desist or face the full consequences of the law.
Fraudulent Text Message Prompts Investigation
The text message in question invited unsuspecting applicants to report for military training at NNBTS Onne, Rivers State, following their alleged selection. The criminals behind the scam specified that the exercise would commence on October 6.
The Nigerian Navy has categorically stated that this text message is fraudulent and should be disregarded by all recipients.
