Benue State Governor Condemns Abduction of Commissioner and Former Council Boss

The Governor of Benue State, Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia, has strongly condemned the abduction of the Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Mr. Matthew Abo, and the former Chairman of Ukum Local Government Area, Mr. Iorwashina Eurkaa, by unknown gunmen.

Governor Alia has expressed his assurance that the state government and security agencies are diligently working towards the swift rescue of the victims from the hands of their captors.

Mr. Abo was kidnapped from his residence in Sankara on Sunday at approximately 8 pm, while Mr. Eurkaa was abducted on Saturday.

The kidnappers have taken the two victims to undisclosed locations. The family of Mr. Eurkaa has been contacted by the kidnappers, but there has been no contact with Mr. Abo’s family as yet.

In a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Sir Tersoo Kula, Governor Alia described the abduction as a barbaric, condemnable, and utterly unacceptable act.

Furthermore, it has been reported that the governor has already instructed the security agencies to commence immediate operations aimed at securing the safe release of both individuals.

The statement also conveyed Governor Alia’s call for the people of Benue State to remain calm, with the assurance that his administration is fully committed to ensuring the safety of all its citizens.
