Akpabio Advocates Unity and Cooperation Among Lawmakers to Address Nigeria’s Challenges

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has called on lawmakers to demonstrate renewed patriotism and dedication to nation-building in order to overcome Nigeria’s challenges of insecurity, poverty, and demands for good governance.

Speaking to his colleagues during the resumption of plenary on Tuesday after the annual recess, Akpabio emphasized the need for unity, cooperation, and steadfast commitment in addressing these pressing issues.

Akpabio stated, “In the face of rising poverty, insecurity, and public agitation for good governance, it is imperative that we set aside personal differences and work together with renewed patriotism and dedication to nationhood. The challenges before us require unity, cooperation, and steadfast commitment to addressing the issues that affect the lives of all Nigerian citizens.”

The Senate President urged lawmakers to remain resolute in their determination to overcome the challenges that have hindered the country’s progress and prosperity in recent years.

He added, “Our constituents look to us for leadership and hope, and we must not falter in fulfilling our responsibilities to them. I encourage us all to prioritize the interests of our great nation by upholding democratic principles in all engagements, processes, and procedures, and by diligently working towards a more secure, prosperous, and united Nigeria.”

Akpabio expressed confidence that Nigeria’s challenges can be overcome through the cooperation of the lawmakers, stating, “I have no doubt that your dedication, wisdom, and integrity will shine through in all your endeavors.”

While acknowledging the existence of concerns and dissent at various levels of governance, Akpabio urged the senators to focus on the greater good of the nation and prioritize the pursuit of common interests, constituents’ welfare, and the protection of Nigeria’s fledgling democracy.

He encouraged open and constructive dialogue, cooperation, and a spirit of unity among the senators on all matters of national significance, highlighting that it is through such discourse that the best outcomes for all Nigerian citizens can be achieved.

As lawmakers carry out their official legislative duties, Akpabio reminded them that despite differing opinions, their common goal is to advance the well-being of their constituents and the nation as a whole.
