The Chief of Defense Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, has reiterated the unwavering commitment of the Nigerian Armed Forces to effectively address the security challenges currently plaguing the country. General Musa made this statement during a condolence visit to the Emir of Zazau, Ahmed ed Bamalli, on Friday evening in Zaria, Kaduna State.
In his address, General Musa assured the Emir and the Nigerian people that the security challenges being faced would soon be a thing of the past. He also requested prayers from the public to enable the military to succeed in its operations.
During the visit, General Musa, accompanied by several top military officials, expressed their condolences over the tragic death of eight worshippers in a collapsed mosque. The CDS conveyed the sympathies of the Armed Forces and offered prayers for the souls of the deceased.
General Musa stated, “I am in Kaduna for the Passing-out parade at the Nigerian Defense Academy (NDA), but I felt it was important to take the time to pay you this condolence visit. As a father figure to me and to the entire north, I rely on your support and prayers for our success in various military operations. I have been here before as the Commandant of the Nigerian Army Depot in Zaria, and now, as the Chief of Defense Staff, to God be the glory.”
On August 11, a tragic incident occurred at the 150-year-old Zaria Central Mosque, resulting in the death of eight worshippers and injury to 25 others during a congregational prayer session.
The Emir of Zazau, Ahmed ed Bamalli, expressed gratitude for the visit and commended President Bola Tinubu for appointing General Musa to the role of CDS. He acknowledged that while the appointment was solely based on merit, the President deserved appreciation from the people of Kaduna State for selecting a competent military officer from the state.
The Emir of Zazau expressed optimism that the present administration would effectively address security challenges across the country. He assured General Musa and the government of the state council and the people’s continued prayers for success.
