Youth Restiveness and Insecurity Must be Addressed, Says Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf

In a bid to achieve Nigeria’s desired greatness, Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf emphasizes the need to tackle issues of unemployment, youth restiveness, insecurity, and poverty with utmost sincerity. Speaking during Nigeria’s 63rd Independence Day celebration at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kofar Mata, Kano State, Governor Abba expressed his government’s determination to look towards the future with hope and careful planning, unburdened by the challenges of the past.

Since taking office four months ago, the governor revealed that significant strides have been made in ensuring the security of lives and properties. Cases of phone snatching and street crimes have become a thing of the past. Additionally, the government has reopened various skill acquisition institutes to equip the youth with both soft and hard skills and provide them with startup capital for their small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). This empowerment aims to contribute to the development of the state and the nation as a whole.

Governor Abba further highlighted the decisive steps taken to overhaul the education and healthcare sectors. Schools are being renovated in batches, and students receive free uniforms, school bags, learning materials, and shoes during the pilot phase. However, the governor lamented that Nigeria’s development and growth should have surpassed its current state, and the nation’s cohesion and unity ought to be stronger than ever.

“The challenges of unemployment and youth restiveness must receive more attention, while insecurity and poverty must be addressed sincerely. Education and healthcare services that have been grappling with challenges need genuine attention. Furthermore, hunger and malnutrition must be compassionately tackled,” expressed Governor Abba Yusuf passionately.

Governor Yusuf extended his felicitations to the state’s senior citizens, ulamas (Islamic scholars), security agencies, and the entire population of Kano State, wishing them a peaceful celebration on the occasion of Nigeria’s 63rd anniversary.
