In commemoration of Nigeria’s 63rd independence anniversary and the 27th year of the creation of Ebonyi State, Governor Francis Nwifuru has launched the distribution of essential relief materials to the people of the state. The initiative aims to cushion the effects of the recent fuel subsidy removal.
Distribution Across Local Government Areas
The distribution of palliatives will be carried out across all 13 local government areas of the state. Governor Nwifuru affirmed that the relief materials include bags of rice, fertilizers, sewing and grinding machines, cooking stoves, insecticide-treated nets, and mattresses, among other essential items.
Emphasizing the importance of fairness and transparency, Governor Nwifuru assured the public that the palliatives would be distributed judiciously to deserving beneficiaries. In addition, the state government has procured vehicles to provide free transportation services to workers, as part of the relief measures.
The governor expressed appreciation for the efforts of President Bola Tinubu in revamping the economy and urged Nigerians to exercise patience with his policies. He also extended gratitude to Vice President Ahmed Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, former Governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi, National Assembly members, and past governors of the state for their support.
A Multifaceted Vision for Progress
Highlighting the state government’s determined focus on development, Governor Nwifuru stated, “We are resolute to revamp, rehabilitate, and improve education, health, agriculture, water, internal roads, women affairs, and other vital sectors of the state.”
Assisting Victims of the 2022 Flood Disaster
As part of the relief efforts, Mr. Kadiri Olarenwaju, the Team Leader of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), revealed that approximately 9,000 victims of the 2022 flood disaster in Ebonyi State will benefit from the distribution of the palliatives.
