Tinubu vows to crush terrorists, revive economy of Northern Nigeria — Daily Nigerian

Nigerian President Bola Tinubu has stressed the urgent need to confront the insecurity plaguing the country, especially in the North. Speaking at the 25th anniversary of the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) in Kaduna, he called for swift action to rebuild trust, strengthen unity and restore safety across communities. Represented by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dr. Tajudeen Abbas, Tinubu warned that insecurity must be tackled decisively to avert further economic decline and setbacks in education. He expressed deep concern over the security crisis, noting that it troubles him gravely, particularly in Northern Nigeria, and asserted that the nation cannot prosper while any region remains paralyzed by violence.

Tinubu acknowledged that the government has inherited complex security challenges, but assured that his administration is addressing them with urgency and determination. He pledged to eliminate terrorist and bandit groups operating in the North and to reverse the region’s economic downturn. Highlighting the economic potential of crude‑oil production in the North, he announced that the government is fast‑tracking key infrastructure projects, including the Abuja‑Kaduna‑Kano Superhighway, to spur growth.

The president urged Northern leaders to speak honestly and courageously about the region’s challenges, warning that progress is impossible if they fail to protect vulnerable communities. He praised the ACF for its 25‑year role as the conscience of Northern Nigeria, defending dignity, fairness and equality for millions. Describing the forum’s Silver Jubilee as a celebration of courage, advocacy and principled service, Tinubu called on leaders across all sectors to recommit to the values that founded the ACF, emphasizing that the unity and stability of the North are essential to Nigeria’s overall peace and development.

The ACF’s anniversary and the launch of its Endowment Fund signal a collective resolve to resist division and restore solidarity in the region. As the government continues to tackle security challenges, the international community will be watching closely, given Nigeria’s significance in West Africa. The success of these efforts will be crucial for the future of Nigeria and its people.
