Ummah Zakat Foundation Unveils EasyZakat, Inaugurates Board of Trustees

The Ummah Zakat Foundation will inaugurate its Board of Trustees and launch its EasyZakat digital platform on Thursday at the National Mosque auditorium in Abuja, according to a statement released by the organisation’s steering committee.

The statement, signed by Dr Ado Muhammad, confirmed that the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammadu Saad Abubakar, will attend as the special guest of honour. The foundation describes itself as a faith-inspired, non-profit platform established to mobilise Zakat, Sadaqah and other forms of Islamic philanthropy toward poverty reduction, livelihood improvement and support for vulnerable populations.

Central to its operational model is a commitment to transparency, accountability, Sharia compliance and the responsible deployment of technology. The EasyZakat platform, a web and mobile application, is designed to streamline the calculation, payment, collection, tracking and distribution of Zakat. It connects donors, beneficiaries, administrators and relevant institutions through a secure digital interface that minimises manual handling and human discretion, thereby reducing opportunities for interference or manipulation.

The system generates digital records, validates beneficiaries, maintains auditable transaction trails and enables real-time tracking of contributions from donor to recipient. According to the statement, the platform functions not only as a payment channel but as a built-in accountability mechanism. It allows donors to monitor contributions, review giving history, access personal dashboards and extract records when needed, features intended to strengthen donor confidence and ensure every contribution can be transparently traced and responsibly accounted for.

The foundation characterised the dual launch as a major milestone in building a credible, technology-driven institution dedicated to Islamic social finance, social justice, poverty reduction and inclusive community development across Nigeria.
