The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called for the dismissal of Festus Keyamo, the spokesperson for the Presidential Campaign Council of the All Progressives Congress (APC), accusing him of abusing his office. This demand was made by Daniel Bwala, the spokesperson for the Atiku-Okowa Presidential Campaign Council, during a press conference held in Abuja on Sunday. The PDP alleges that Keyamo is misusing the privileges and powers associated with his position to intimidate government agencies. They specifically pointed out that he has gone to court to file a case against agents of the same branch of government to which he belongs.
The PDP’s reaction comes in response to Keyamo’s call for an investigation into Atiku Abubakar regarding alleged corruption. Bwala criticized the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, asserting that he is leveraging his official position to intimidate federal agencies. He urged President Muhammadu Buhari to remove Keyamo from his position for misusing the privileges granted to him.
Reports indicate that Keyamo had recently petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, and other anti-graft agencies to investigate Atiku over alleged corruption cases. The PDP Presidential Campaign Council (PDPPCC) contends that Keyamo is using taxpayer funds for his personal interests. The press conference also featured other prominent members of the Atiku-Okowa campaign council, including Dele Momodu, who mentioned that this conference was the first of a series of planned briefings by the party. Additionally, the PDP called on the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency and the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control to investigate the APC presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, concerning alleged drug-related offenses.
