Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has appealed to residents of the state to lend their support to the military and other security forces in their efforts to combat insecurity.

On Tuesday, during the unveiling of “Exercise Enduring Peace III,” a military operation, Alia made this plea in Tyodugh, Guma Local Government Area.

The governor urged the residents to provide valuable information to the security operatives.

Alia expressed his confidence in the military exercise and the endeavors of other security agencies to eradicate criminal elements from the state.

He also commended the military and other security agencies for their selfless sacrifices and services rendered to the state and the country as a whole.

Prior to this, Brigadier General Al-Amin Rabiu, the Commander of the 401 Special Forces Brigade in Makurdi, reiterated the importance of professionalism among the troops in carrying out their duties.

He stated that the exercise, which is based on real-time intelligence regarding the prevailing security threats in the state, will last until January 5, 2024.

In addition, Major General Hilary Nzan, the Commander of the Special Forces Command in Doma, Nasarawa State, mentioned that the exercise would be a joint operation conducted in Benue State by the troops of the 401 Special Forces Brigade and personnel from paramilitary agencies sourced from various commands within the state.

The “Exercise Enduring Peace III” is a collaborative security exercise aimed at addressing numerous security challenges in the state, including conflicts between farmers and herders, cattle rustling, and banditry.
