Minister of Information Urges Collaboration with PR Professionals to Enhance Nigeria’s Image

Nigeria’s Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has called on the newly elected officials of the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) to align themselves with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 8-point agenda. This collaboration aims to collectively improve the image of Africa’s most populous country.

During a courtesy visit by the members of the NIPR Board to Radio House, Abuja, Minister Idris, who is also a fellow of the Institute, expressed his support and assured the board of the ministry’s readiness to partner with various institutions and stakeholders in repositioning the country and reorienting its citizens.

Idris stated, “The ministry will engage the NIPR in this regard,” emphasizing the importance of the collaboration between the two entities.

Recognizing the need for sectoral specialization among its members, Idris endorsed the NIPR’s plan to promote professionalism and strengthen the institution. He acknowledged that the NIPR has been operating as a unifocal profession, and he believes decentralization is vital to address the challenges that have arisen as a result.

The President and Chairman of the governing council of NIPR, Dr. Ike Neliaku, explained that the visit was to inform the Minister about the Institute’s planned programs and activities, as well as their willingness to collaborate with the Ministry in the task of nation-building.

As part of its initiatives, the NIPR intends to launch a national campaign focused on three key areas: citizen education and value reorientation, promoting made-in-Nigeria goods, and enhancing service delivery excellence. Dr. Neliaku affirmed that they would work closely with the Ministry to execute this campaign successfully.
