Zamfara University Management Urges Students to Relocate for Enhanced Security

The Federal University, Gusau, in Zamfara State, has instructed all students residing in the Damba district of Gusau to either move to Sabon Gida or remain within the Gusau metropolis in the state capital. This directive comes as a result of heightened insecurity in the area.

In a statement issued by the institution’s information officer, Comrade Umar Usman, it was emphasized that students would experience improved security in Gusau town or Sabon Gida village.

The statement reads, “The university management advises students to either relocate to Sabon Gida, which has now been fortified with armed security personnel, or stay within the safety of the Gusau metropolis.

“This measure is necessary as students living on the outskirts, particularly in Damba, are more susceptible to bandit attacks.”

Usman further highlighted that the combined efforts of Operation Hadarin Daji and Metro Joint Patrol (Eagle Eye) successfully rescued the four kidnapped students of the institution, who were abducted on Saturday, 14th October 2023, in the Sabon Garin Damba Area of Gusau.

“Two of the four kidnapped students managed to escape shortly after their abduction, while the remaining two were rescued during a fierce gun battle between the military troops and the bandits,” he stated.
