The Nasarawa State Waste Management and Sanitation Authority (NASWAMSA) has come forward to address and refute claims of abandoning the refuse dump located in the New Nyanya area of Karu local council.
This clarification was made by the agency in response to reports circulating about the alleged abandonment of the New Nyanya dumpsite.
A statement released by NASWAMSA and obtained by Media Talk Africa reveals that Comrade Abdulmalik Abubakar, the information and public relations officer of the agency, vehemently refutes these claims and emphasizes that NASWAMSA cannot and will not abandon the dumpsite.
In his statement, Abubakar clarifies, “Unfortunately, the road leading to the dumpsite, which was riddled with numerous potholes, has been filled up, and the process of evacuation has commenced.”
“During this evacuation exercise, the payloader encountered a major mechanical fault, resulting in a slight delay in operations while the necessary repairs were carried out.”
Abubakar further adds, “Now that the payloader has been restored to working order, the Agency has resumed the evacuation of all unapproved dumpsites, and we assure the public that we will soon return to the site that has been the subject of these allegations.”
