The presidential campaign rally of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bauchi State ended abruptly on Monday due to a faulty sound system. The event, held at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium, was interrupted when the power went out shortly after the National Chairman of the APC, Abdullahi Adamu, began his speech. As a result, President Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), who was present at the rally, had to leave immediately with his entourage without delivering a speech.

President Buhari arrived in Bauchi to lead the APC’s presidential and governorship campaign rally. His aircraft landed at the Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Airport around 10:20 am, where he was welcomed by Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, the Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate and his opponent in the upcoming March 11 governorship election, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar. Among those present to receive the President at the airport were APC party chairman Abdullahi Adamu, Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council and Plateau State Governor Simon Lalong, Senate President Ahmad Lawan, Speaker of the House of Representatives Femi Gbajabiamila, former Chief of Defence Staff Gen. Abdulrahman Danbazzau, and governors of Borno, Kebbi, and Yobe states—Babagana Zulum, Abubakar Bagudu, and Mai Mala Buni, respectively.

Following his arrival, Buhari proceeded to the Palace of the Emir of Bauchi, Dr. Rilwanu Adamu, for a courtesy visit before heading to the stadium for the campaign rally. During the rally, he was expected to officially present the APC candidates to the Bauchi electorate. After the event, the President was scheduled to depart for Lagos, where he will begin a two-day working visit. In Lagos, Buhari is set to unveil several projects, including the Lekki deep sea port, the blue line rail project from Mile 2 to Marina, the 32-metric tons Lagos Rice Mill in Imota, and the 18.75 km Eleko to Epe T Junction express road. Additionally, he will inaugurate the John Randle Centre for Yoruba Culture and History and oversee the groundbreaking for the blue line rail phase 2, which will extend from Mile 2 to Okokomaiko.
