‘My Heart Trembles Whenever Jigawa is Mentioned as One of the Poverty-stricken States’ – Gov Namadi

The Governor of Jigawa State, Malam Umar Namadi, expressed deep concern about the state’s reputation as one of the poverty-stricken states in the country. His heart trembles whenever it is mentioned in such terms. Governor Namadi made these remarks during the official flag-off ceremony of the 1,500 Youth Empowerment Program in Dutse, the state capital.

During the ceremony, the governor emphasized the importance of investing in the youth of Jigawa State. In this regard, each of the 1,500 program beneficiaries received N50,000 in capital. This capital injection is intended to enable young individuals to venture into entrepreneurship and create sustainable economic opportunities for themselves and their communities.

Governor Namadi reiterated his administration’s commitment to taking the state to the next level by creating job opportunities that would improve the socio-economic conditions of the residents. He emphasized that his heart trembles whenever Jigawa State is associated with high poverty rates.

The governor highlighted the various programs and policies introduced by the Jigawa State Agency for Youth Empowerment and Employment to promote socio-economic development in the state. He also announced the launch of a website for registering the youth and their desired career paths, including business, trade, public service, and other legal means of livelihood. This initiative aims to provide equal opportunities to all citizens, regardless of political affiliation or social background.

Under Governor Namadi’s leadership, Jigawa State is determined to break free from the constraints of poverty and empower its citizens to build a brighter future. Through strategic initiatives like the Youth Empowerment Program and the registration website, the state is taking concrete steps towards achieving its goals of economic prosperity and social well-being.
