Tinubu praises Nigeria’s groundbreaking win in P&ID case

President Bola Tinubu has expressed his admiration for the judgment delivered by Judge Robin Knowles of the Business and Property Court in London. The court ruled in favor of the Federal Government of Nigeria in a significant victory against Process and Industry Development, P&ID, L.td.

Tinubu’s appreciation for the ruling was conveyed in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale.

In his statement, Tinubu emphasized that the judgment conclusively establishes that nation states can no longer be held hostage by economic collusion between private firms and corrupt officials.

Ngelale stated, “Judge Knowles dismissed the $11.5 billion (USD) value of the award, plus accumulated interest, which P&ID had previously won over a failed 2010 deal to purportedly construct a gas processing plant. The reason given for the dismissal was that the award was obtained through fraudulent means.”

“President Tinubu commends the UK Court for prioritizing the merits of the case above all other considerations,” Ngelale continued.

Tinubu believes that this landmark judgment not only benefits Nigeria but also marks a victory for the entire exploited continent and the developing world at large, which have long been victims of unjust economic practices and overt exploitation.

“Nigeria expresses gratitude for the remarkable efforts of the defense team and acknowledges the contributions of the Federal Ministry of Justice and the Office of the Attorney-General in safeguarding Nigeria’s interests throughout this case,” the president was quoted as saying.
