NYSC Initiates Measures to Enhance Reputation and Unity

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) is taking proactive steps to address challenges posed by social media, in order to cultivate a more positive image while promoting national unity and growth.

During a workshop held in Abuja on Wednesday, Brigadier General Yashau Ahmed, the Director General of NYSC, emphasized the critical importance of reputation management. The workshop, aptly titled “Managing and Improving the Reputation of the NYSC: The Roles and Responsibilities of PR Officers,” aimed to equip Protocol and PR Officers with the necessary tools and strategies for effective reputation management, protocol adherence, and information management.

One of the main focuses of the workshop was addressing negative publications about the NYSC and strengthening its media presence.

Brigadier General Ahmed unveiled plans to sponsor PR officers for training programs at prestigious institutions, as well as to upgrade PR units across the country with state-of-the-art communication equipment.

Mr. Eddy Megwa, the Director of Press and Public Relations at NYSC, highlighted the importance of PR officers having a comprehensive understanding of the nuances of the Freedom of Information Act and embracing fresh insights. The workshop, themed “Managing and Enhancing Roles and Responsibilities of PR Officers,” showcased NYSC’s commitment to enhancing its public relations efforts.

Megwa expressed optimism about the workshop’s potential to empower participants to perform more effectively in their roles. He also acknowledged the crucial role played by NYSC PR officers in upholding a positive image for the organization, and even extending the reach of NYSC Radio.

In an important development, a brand-new NYSC Television Studio was established to safeguard the organization’s image, with the support of the Director-General.

Closing the event, Megwa fervently appealed for state-of-the-art equipment to further enhance the station’s visual appeal and competitiveness on the national stage.

Addressing the workshop, Chris Isiguzo, the President of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, urged attendees to uphold the trust that the Nigerian public has in the NYSC. He emphasized the importance of professionalism and expertise in maintaining this trust, particularly in an era of constant information flow.

Isiguzo encouraged participants to embrace innovation, creativity, and an unwavering commitment to their responsibilities. He commended the NYSC for organizing the workshop and underscored the significance of having well-informed and capable communicators to convey the NYSC’s mission and accomplishments.
