In the wake of President Bola Tinubu’s triumphant outcome at the Supreme Court, the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) sends their felicitations and good wishes for a successful tenure. Speaking exclusively to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Lagos, Sheriff Oladejo, the Secretary of NNPP in Lagos State, expressed their optimism that Tinubu’s victory at the Supreme Court will afford him the opportunity to dedicate his undivided attention to governing the nation.
Oladejo clarified that while NNPP did not resort to legal action, they respect the decision of other political parties to approach the court if they believed they had legitimate grievances. He emphasized that all parties have exhausted their avenues of appeal, and the final verdict has been passed by the highest court in the land.
“At this juncture, it is crucial that President Bola Tinubu focuses wholeheartedly on the task of governance,” Oladejo stated. “As a party, we extend our heartfelt well wishes to President Bola Tinubu and his political party, and we fervently hope for a smooth and successful tenure as they steer the affairs of our beloved nation.”
The Supreme Court delivered its ruling on Thursday, upholding the judgment of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal, which confirmed Tinubu’s election on February 25th. The appeals brought forward by Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, and Mr Peter Obi, the Labour Party candidate, against the tribunal’s decision were subsequently dismissed by the court.
