Senate President Akpabio and Tanzanian Speaker Ackson Elected into IPU Executive Committee

In a significant achievement for both Nigeria and Tanzania, the Deputy President of the Nigerian Senate, Barau Jibrin, has extended his heartfelt congratulations to the newly elected President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), Tulia Ackson. The Tanzanian Parliament Speaker has made history by becoming the first African woman to hold this prestigious position within the global parliamentary body.

The election took place on Friday in Luanda, Angola, where Ackson emerged victorious, triumphing over three other highly accomplished African parliamentarians.
