Manchester United’s manager, Erik ten Hag, shares his thoughts on their recent 3-0 loss to Manchester City in the highly anticipated Premier League clash on Sunday.
The disappointment for United came with Erling Haaland’s brace, along with a goal by Phil Foden, securing a comprehensive victory for City.
With this defeat, Manchester United now finds themselves residing in eighth place on the Premier League table, suffering their fifth loss in just ten fixtures.
Ten Hag expressed his views on the match, saying, “We had numerous opportunities, but regrettably failed to capitalize on them. It is indeed disheartening to concede a goal in the manner we did. When an opponent outclasses you, it is something to be expected.”
He further added, “Our mistake in the second goal disrupted our shape, ultimately leading to our downfall against an adversary as formidable as them.”
Ten Hag also acknowledged the impressive defensive performance put forth by his team in the first half, stating, “We defended exceptionally well and capitalized on the counter-attacks. However, the penalty decision was indeed disappointing.”
