The Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led administration is determined to work hand in hand with the 10th National Assembly to ensure that Nigerians can fully enjoy the blessings bestowed upon them by their abundant natural resources. This assurance was given by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, during a courtesy visit from the Emir of Agwatashi, Alhaji Dr. Abubakar Apeshi, at his official guest house in Abuja.
Expressing gratitude for the visit, the Speaker acknowledged the recent discovery of crude oil reserves in Nasarawa State, particularly within the Agwatashi Emirate. This discovery was made possible through extensive geodetic surveys conducted by experts from the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) research. He went on to assure the Emir and his entourage of President Tinubu’s unwavering commitment to harnessing Nigeria’s natural resources for the benefit of the citizens. Furthermore, he emphasized that the 10th National Assembly would collaborate closely with the Executive to expedite the necessary processes.
Speaker Abbas also shared his aspiration to see his party, the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), become the dominant political force in Nasarawa State. He expressed concern over the frequent internal conflicts within the party, which has resulted in the loss of several legislative seats at both the state and national levels to opposition parties.
Prior to the Speaker’s remarks, the Emir of Agwatashi, Dr. Abubakar Apeshi, congratulated the Speaker on his election to the esteemed position. He also conveyed the emirate’s support and prayers for his success in carrying out his responsibilities. The Emir expressed gratitude to the Speaker for appointing one of their illustrious sons, Alhaji Musa Hussaini, as the Special Assistant on Protocol.
“So, we have come on behalf of the community to thank you immensely for this good gesture that you have done to us in Oloso Community of Agwatashi Emirate,” the Emir humbly expressed.
The Emir concluded by offering prayers for the Speaker and his colleagues in the House, beseeching the Almighty Allah to grant them the wisdom to enact laws that will uplift the lives of Nigerians. Accompanying the Emir on this visit was an esteemed former senator, Salihu Hussain Egyegbola, who represented Nasarawa South Senatorial District in the 9th Senate.
