Bandits Kill 9 and Injure 16 During Maulud Procession in Katsina, Police Confirm

The Police in Katsina have confirmed the tragic incident that occurred during a Maulud procession in Rugar Kusa village, Musawa Local Government Area of the state. As reported by the police spokesperson, ASP Abubakar Sadiq-Aliyu, suspected bandits launched an attack on Muslim faithful who were celebrating the Maulud festival. This despicable act resulted in the loss of nine innocent lives, while sixteen others sustained varying degrees of injuries.

The attack took place on Sunday, November 5, at approximately 10:30 p.m. The assailants, armed with dangerous weapons including AK-47 rifles, unleashed terror by shooting sporadically at the procession. However, upon receiving the report, prompt action was taken and police operatives swiftly mobilized to repel the attack.

Unfortunately, seven individuals were fatally shot on the spot, and eighteen others were wounded. The injured victims were immediately rushed to the General Hospital Musawa for urgent medical attention. Tragically, two of the eighteen injured persons succumbed to their injuries while receiving treatment.

The police have intensified efforts to apprehend the perpetrators of this heinous act. Investigations into the case are currently ongoing to bring the culprits to justice and ensure the safety and security of the community.
