Insecurity: Reps promise enhanced support for Nigerian Army

The House of Representatives Committee on the Nigerian Army on Tuesday expressed dedication to supporting the Nigerian Army within the battle towards safety challenges within the nation.

Abdullahi Mamudu, the committee’s chairman, spoke throughout the inauguration of the committee in Abuja on Tuesday.

Mamudu stated that the committee had devised a complete four-year work plan which might be adopted inside a selected timeframe to achieve its mandate.

“Let us approach this responsibility with utmost seriousness, understanding that we must empower the Nigerian Army to address the multiple security challenges we face in the country,” he acknowledged.

He stated the committee’s oversight features encompassed numerous features, together with the Nigerian Army, ammunition depots, forts, arsenals, reservations, and institutions.

He stated it additionally included improvement initiatives of the Nigerian Army and Army barracks, landed property, and related belongings, along with annual budgets and recruitment.

Mamudu underscored the significance of collaboration between the army and the parliament in a democratic setup, emphasising the distinctive function of the legislature in distinguishing democracy from different types of authorities.
