As the gubernatorial election in Imo State draws near, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is resolute in its support for Senator Samuel Anyanwu, expressing unwavering confidence in his imminent victory.
The PDP has decried a malicious fake video purportedly orchestrated by Governor Hope Uzodinma and the All Progressives Congress (APC) against their candidate, Senator Samuel Anyanwu. Despite this, the party remains undeterred and has called for the disqualification of Uzodinma by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
In a statement released on Friday by Hon. Debo Ologunagba, the PDP National Publicity Secretary, the party condemned the alleged production and dissemination of the fake video by Uzodinma, labelling it as a barbaric and shameful tactic. The PDP emphasized that the video is a clear indication of Uzodinma’s fear of Senator Anyanwu’s growing popularity, prompting underhand methods in an attempt to thwart his candidacy.
The party reiterated its unwavering support for Senator Anyanwu, urging the people of Imo State to disregard the contrived video, asserting its falsity and urging for Governor Uzodinma’s withdrawal from the race as a result of his apparent reluctance to engage in a peaceful, free, fair, and transparent election.
Furthermore, the PDP has called upon INEC to disqualify the APC and Governor Uzodinma, highlighting their alleged involvement in the production and circulation of the fake video as a gross violation of electoral provisions.
