Nigerian Teachers Union Demands Justice for Slain Taraba Educator

The Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT) in Taraba State has passionately called for the immediate apprehension of the perpetrators responsible for the heinous killing of Bassey Sardauna Nkuphee, a dedicated secondary school teacher.

In an official statement undersigned by their chairman, Nathan Solomon, the union emphatically asserted their demand for justice in the wake of this tragic incident.

Expressing deep sorrow over the distressing turn of events, Solomon conveyed the union’s urgent plea to the state government, urging them to take decisive measures to prevent any recurrence of such savage acts.

Interestingly, this call for justice stands in contrast to a previous instruction by the Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools (ASUSS), which had ordered the suspension of academic activities across the state. In a noteworthy departure, NUT has encouraged its members to maintain composure and resume academic pursuits, with the exception of GDSS Model, where operations have been suspended to ensure the safety of both staff and students.
