The Nigerian Government has strongly rebutted a recent report by Budgit Tracka, denouncing it as “erroneous and grossly misleading.” The report pertains to a Federal Government intervention project in Saki, Oyo State.
According to the Federal Controller of Works, Oyo State, Kayode Ibrahim, Budgit Tracka failed to reach out to the Office of the Federal Controller of Works, Oyo State, before publishing the damaging report.
Ibrahim clarified that the project, titled “Limited Rehabilitation of Opo Malu Road in Saki, Oyo State,” was awarded to Messrs Laralek Ultimate Limited on 31st January, 2022. The contract mandated the commencement of work on 1st March, 2022, with a stipulated completion period of three months.
He expressed, “The then Honourable member of the National Assembly representing the constituency facilitated the award of the contract and personally led the team of Federal Government officials and the contractor to the site, accompanied by community leaders.”
Ibrahim emphasized that the project’s location, encompassing the Opo Malu area and spanning eleven communities from Opo Malu junction through Orogun road to Isale Adini in Saki, had previously been entirely impassable. The Federal Government’s intervention aimed to reconnect these communities to the major road in Saki.
He further stated, “The Contractor completed the Limited Rehabilitation works on schedule and submitted the necessary certification, which was duly processed. The leaders of the eleven communities, through which the rehabilitated road traverses, penned a letter confirming the satisfactory execution of the project to the Federal Controller of Works, Oyo State.”
“It is worth noting that Budgit Tracka did not engage with the office of the Federal Controller of Works, Oyo State, prior to publishing the damaging report,” Ibrahim added.
Moreover, the office of the Federal Controller of Works, Oyo State, has dispatched detailed, dated photographs of the works in progress and completed works, along with GPS coordinates, to Budgit Tracka for verification.
Quashing any reservations about the project, the office of the Federal Controller of Works, Oyo State, affirmed, “The contract titled ‘Limited Rehabilitation of Opo Malu Road in Saki, Oyo State,’ awarded to Messrs Laralek Ultimate Limited, was executed as contracted. Any contrasting information should be dismissed.”
