The Nigerian Air Force, a vital component of Operation Hadin Kai, has executed successful raids on terrorists’ hideouts in Borno State, resulting in significant casualties for the insurgents.
Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, the Director of Public Relations and Information at the Nigerian Air Force, has confirmed that the recent airstrikes carried out on November 8 and November 11 in the Ajigin and Banki Junction areas have dealt a severe blow to the terrorists operating in the region.
Gabkwet emphasised that these strategic airstrikes are part of the ongoing military operations to rid the region of terrorist elements and ensure the safety and security of the local populace.
During the operations, it was discovered that the terrorists had concealed four gun trucks in dense vegetation, with intentions to launch attacks on military positions around Damboa and Wajiroko. In response, three of the gun trucks were precisely targeted, resulting in immense damage as thick black smoke billowed from the scene.
The fleeing fourth gun truck, which attempted to escape the onslaught, was diligently pursued for about 26 kilometres before being engaged and thoroughly incapacitated, eliminating any potential threat it posed to friendly forces and the communities in the area.
“The destruction of these four gun trucks, along with the apprehension of their occupants, has unquestionably diminished the terrorists’ ability to launch further attacks on our forces and the local populace,” Gabkwet affirmed.
