Kano State Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, has approved the dismissal of Muhuyi Rimingado, the Chairman of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission. This decision comes nearly two years after the Kano State House of Assembly recommended his immediate removal from the position due to alleged offenses. The official notification of Rimingado’s dismissal was communicated in a letter dated January 24, 2023, and signed by the Secretary to the Kano State Government, Alhaji Usman Alhaji.
The letter states, “Following the resolution adopted by the Kano State House of Assembly at its sitting held on Monday, July 26, 2021, calling on the state government to remove you as the executive chairman of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission, I wish to convey the approval of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kano State, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, of your dismissal from your position with immediate effect.” It further notes that the dismissal is in accordance with the provisions of Section 6 of the Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Law 2008, as amended.
On July 16, 2022, the Kano State House of Assembly had recommended the removal of Rimingado, who had been suspended from his role. In response to his dismissal, Rimingado confirmed that he received the letter on January 25, 2023, at 7:12 PM. He stated, “As far as I am concerned, this letter will not cause any injury to me because there is already a court judgment in that respect. The court ruled that the government cannot sack me without giving me a fair hearing in the whole saga. Up until now, the Kano State government has not provided me with a fair hearing regarding this matter.”
Rimingado emphasized that despite receiving the dismissal letter, he stands by the court’s judgment and asserted that this development would not deter him from his political activities. He believes that the letter was intended to distract him from his political pursuits.
