Notable Nigerians Recognised at the Our Nigeria Awards 2023 in Abuja

The 5th Edition of Our Nigeria Awards 2023, organized by the Publishers of Our Nigeria News Magazine, took place in Abuja, where distinguished Nigerians were celebrated for their remarkable contributions to the nation’s development. The event, themed “Providing a Podium for the Unsung Heroes,” was held at the prestigious International Conference Centre, Abuja.

During this illustrious ceremony, individuals who have excelled in various fields including security, politics, academia, agriculture, technology, and medicine were honoured, adding glamour and prestige to the occasion.

Lt. General Tukur Buratai, the Former Chief of Army Staff and Chairman of the occasion, emphasized the significance of the award, calling for enhanced commitment, dedication, and loyalty from the recipients. In his words, “We see this award as a mark of appreciation to the individuals for their service to their nation.”

Retired Major General Victor Ezegwu, the Former Director of Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria, expressed optimism about the possibility of a new Nigeria, highlighting the need for collective efforts towards the betterment of all citizens.

In a thought-provoking lecture, Professor Emmanuel Dandaura, a Professor of Participatory and Development Communication at Nasarawa State University, stressed the importance of attitudinal change in fostering national unity and development. He also pinpointed leadership failure as a major challenge confronting Nigeria.

Dr. Muhammed Abubakar, the Publisher of Our Nigeria News Magazine, underscored the media outfit’s commitment to unveiling and showcasing individuals who have silently distinguished themselves in their respective fields.

Notably, the night saw the recognition of over 25 outstanding Nigerians, including His Royal Majesty, the Oba Hameed Makama CON (Oluyede III) Olowu of Owu-Kuta Kingdom, who was honoured with the Legendary Icon of the Year.
