The All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship Campaign Council in Kogi State has boldly declared its preparedness to face litigations following the recently concluded gubernatorial poll in the state. Speaking to the press in Lokoja, the Spokesperson and Director of Media and Publicity, Kingsley Fanwo, expressed the party’s firm stand.
Fanwo emphasized that every vote the APC garnered in Kogi East was a testament to the resilience of hundreds of voters who endured harassment, injuries, and even the burning of their homes due to their political beliefs.
He remarked, “You are the true heroes of democracy. Those who resorted to acts of terrorism against our democratic process, in a desperate bid to turn the tides in their favor, are now seeking sympathy through various media outlets. However, unbiased observers from across the nation have lauded the election as the freest and most peaceful since the establishment of Kogi State. Their attempts to create a contrary impression reek of desperation to divert attention from their misdeeds.”
Addressing the outcry for result cancellation from a candidate who purportedly only secured victory in his region, Fanwo dismissed the appeal as ludicrous. “It is laughable for a candidate who claimed to win only in his zone to be crying foul and calling for the cancellation of the results of the areas where he was massively rejected,” he stated.
Further, Fanwo highlighted the proliferation of manipulated result sheets favoring the Social Democratic Party on social media. He asserted, “The original results were rewritten by those with unclean hands, and now, they are attempting to seek justice with tainted hands. Their ethnocentric Senior Advocate of Nigeria is already penning essays to persuade them to engage his services for tribunal cases.”
He continued, “In light of our substantial evidence, we are fully prepared to confront any legal challenges. We have enough proof to demonstrate that the ethnocentric Social Democratic Party candidate did not legitimately amass the inflated votes attributed to him, which were coerced at gunpoint.”
Expressing gratitude to the electorate, Fanwo extended appreciation to the people of Kogi Central for affirming the dominance of the All Progressives Congress in the state. “Your overwhelming turnout is a testament to the impact of our rally in Kogi Central. The sheer numbers at the polls validated the authenticity of the rally. We are profoundly thankful to you,” he conveyed.
Regarding the Kogi West Senatorial District, he hailed the delivery of six out of seven Local Government Areas in the district to the All Progressives Congress. Despite three parties fielding candidates from the zone, the massive support for the APC exhibited a resounding endorsement of a unified and prosperous state, where merit supersedes ethnic biases. He acknowledged, “Your resounding support speaks volumes.”
In conclusion, Fanwo assured the public that the Governor-Elect, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, will uphold their trust. He commended Governor Yahaya Bello for laying the groundwork for the All Progressives Congress to sustain its electoral victories in Kogi. “Governor Bello’s exceptional leadership across all sectors of the economy has facilitated the APC’s continued success in Kogi,” he concluded.
