19th Annual National Editors’ Conference Opens in Uyo

The 19th Annual National Editors’ Conference has opened in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, with the theme “Stimulating Economic Growth, Technological Advancement: Role of the Media”.

The Governor of the State, Chief Umo Bassey Eno, said at the opening that he came to office prepared to improve tourism and foster the development of the state as an investment destination.

Governor Eno said the state was ready for investments in the oil and gas sector, as the key sectors in which Akwa Ibom has comparative advantages.

The governor said the state will continue to improve on the education and agriculture sectors as well as make the state a tourist destination.

Governor Eno urged the Nigerian editors to continue to support the state in promoting investment, security, and social development for the people.

Nigeria’s Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mallam Abubakar Idris.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mallam Abubakar Idris, assured the delegates that the government will continue to promote freedom of the press and urged the media to report the truth and things that will promote the development of Nigeria.

According to the minister, President Bola Tinubu has taken steps to restore the hope of Nigerians and investors in the economy, security, and agriculture and protect investments for the accelerated development of Nigeria.
