Nigerian Army 1 Division Eliminates 6 Bandits and Recovers Arms and Ammunition

The troops of 1 Division Nigerian Army and Operation Whirl Punch have successfully neutralized six bandits and recovered a cache of weapons and other items, including two AK-47 rifles, four AK-47 rifle magazines, 14 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, 40 pairs of bandits uniforms, and 9 motorcycles. This significant achievement was confirmed in a statement released by the Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations 1 Division Nigerian, Lieutenant Colonel Musa Yahaya, on Wednesday, 16th November 2023.

Acting on credible intelligence, the troops conducted an offensive clearance operation targeting bandits’ strongholds in Sabon-Birni, Dogon Dawa, Saulawa, Maidaro-Ngede Allah, and Kidenda, all situated in the Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State. The focused operation resulted in the elimination of the bandits and the recovery of the aforementioned weapons and items, dealing a significant blow to the criminal elements in the region.

Maj. Gen. Valentine Okoro, the General Officer Commanding 1 Division Nigerian Army and Force Commander of Operation Whirl Punch, commended the troops for their exceptional bravery during the operation. He further urged them to maintain their resolve until all terrorists, bandits, and other criminal elements within the Division’s Area of Responsibility are completely neutralized.
