The Taraba State Police Command has made a firm commitment to uphold neutrality and professionalism during the upcoming local government elections scheduled for Saturday in the state.
Speaking in Jalingo on Friday, the command’s spokesperson, Abdullahi Usman, assured that officers have been strategically deployed to polling units across the sixteen local government councils. Additionally, police personnel have been stationed at collation centres in the respective local government headquarters.
Usman emphasized that the Commissioner of Police recently conducted a comprehensive briefing with all Area Commandants, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), and other relevant personnel to ensure a seamless handling of the election process.
The PPRO conveyed the Commissioner’s directive, quoting, “The Commissioner of Police urged the officers to exhibit exemplary conduct, civility, and a profound respect for human dignity.”
Furthermore, the Commissioner, Joseph Eribo, as highlighted by the PPRO, cautioned politicians to refrain from actions that could incite unrest before, during, and after the elections. He sternly warned against engaging in divisive politics, emphasizing the zero-tolerance stance of the command under his leadership towards political thuggery.
