The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Cross River State, Prof. Sandy Onor, has alleged that the All Progressives Congress (APC) plans to import thugs into the state to create chaos during the upcoming elections. He made this claim during a news conference on Friday, following a tour of the state’s 18 local government areas. Onor stated, “Just after our campaign team peacefully left the North, Ayade led his party into that region. One of the comments we have heard from the governor is the allegation that the opposition is planning to import thugs and militants from other parts of the country to terrorize the state during the general elections. We found this laughable because we know it is exactly what Ayade is planning to do.”

Onor emphasized that the people of Cross River are aware of Ayade’s past actions, particularly how he allegedly imported thugs and militants into the northern part of the state during last year’s by-election. He accused Ayade of bringing in both official and unofficial marauders who caused chaos, attacked electoral officials, and seized materials to manipulate election results submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). “We already know that he intends to repeat this deadly strategy,” Onor asserted. “Unfortunately for him, the plot is dead on arrival as our people have been sufficiently conscientized to stand up for their rights, vote, and ensure that their votes count.”
