Abuja-bound train derails, passengers safe

A train travelling from Kaduna to Abuja derailed at Kubwa in the Federal Capital Territory on Friday.

The development comes few days after the Warri-Itakpe train derailed at KM 30 Ajaokuta-Itakpe section of the track.

About 148 passengers and 30 crew members who were on board were left stranded in a forest in Kogi State.

It was also gathered that nobody lost his or her life during incident.

A source within the Nigerian Railway Corporation confirmed to our correspondent that a train derailed at the Kubwa Station.

According to the source, the train was coming from Kaduna, adding that they were still waiting for a train (rail bus) to carry some of the staff of the corporation to the scene of the incident.

The source further said most of the passengers must have alighted at the Kubwa station, adding that three coaches and loco derailed.

However, the source did not disclose the cause of the derailment.
