During the swearing-in and opening ceremony of the NYSC 2023 Batch C Stream II at the permanent orientation camp in Ede, Osun State, Governor Ademola Adeleke delivered an address to corps members, urging them to view the scheme as a stepping stone to actualizing their dreams and aspirations. Represented by the Commissioner for Youth, Moshood Olagunju, Adeleke emphasized the importance of the youth as Nigeria’s most valuable resources. He encouraged the corps members to pursue knowledge and commitment to achieve excellence, reminding them that with the right tools, they could make a positive impact and contribute to their communities.
Adeleke specifically stated, “Let the programme be a stepping stone towards your dreams and aspirations. Remember, success is not just about personal achievement but also about giving back to your communities and making a positive impact. You are our nation’s most valuable resource, and I believe in your immense potential.”
He further added, “It is therefore, our responsibility to provide you with the tools necessary to succeed, and I am confident that the Orientation course will do just that. I urge you to dream big, work hard, and be the change you wish to see in the world. With the right knowledge and a commitment to excellence, you can achieve anything. This Orientation programme is just the beginning of your incredible journey.”
The governor also advised the corps members to be law-abiding, embrace peaceful coexistence, and avoid youthful exuberance as they embark on their service year.
The Osun NYSC state coordinator, Agbor Ndoma Obim, also addressed the corps members, revealing that 2,389 of them were deployed to the state for the youth service. He highlighted the importance of attitude, discipline, and commitment for a successful service year. Additionally, he urged them to use their social media platforms responsibly, emphasizing the role of corps members as ambassadors of the NYSC, their families, and the nation at large.
