A former deputy governor of Ondo State, Mr. Agboola Ajayi, has voiced the readiness of the state’s residents to support the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidates in the upcoming general elections. He characterized the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as a “dead political party” with nothing beneficial to offer the country, asserting that only the PDP can bring about positive change. Ajayi made these remarks during the PDP campaign for the Ondo South Senatorial District, held in Okitipupa town within the Okitipupa Local Government Area.
As the senatorial candidate for the PDP in the district, Ajayi emphasized the failures of the APC government, calling for its removal in the next month’s elections. Addressing a crowd of party supporters at the rally, he stated, “Our people are tired of the APC government, and we are not concerned about the issue of vote buying because it won’t work at all in Ondo South Senatorial District. Our people are resolute and ready to vote out the APC.” He further asserted that Ondo South belongs to the PDP, with residents unwilling to compromise their integrity and rights, and prepared to support all PDP candidates in the elections.
Ajayi highlighted the critical issue of electricity in the senatorial district, promising that if elected, the PDP would address this problem. He recalled his role in bringing the 132 KVA substation to Okitipupa during his tenure as deputy governor, lamenting that progress had stalled since leaving office. He assured the people of Ondo South that the PDP would complete the necessary work to restore electricity and effectively represent their interests in Abuja.
Dr. Eddy Olafeso, a former national vice chairman (South-West) of the PDP, also spoke at the rally, emphasizing the unity and determination of the party. He remarked, “We are one single family, indivisible, united, and we are moving ahead to win this election because the last seven and a half years of the APC government have been a very tragic experience for the people of Nigeria.” He expressed confidence that the upcoming election would mark a significant victory for the PDP in Ondo South, Ondo State, and Nigeria as a whole.
Additionally, Mr. John Mafo, the PDP Chairman for the Ondo South Senatorial District, reiterated the party’s mission to oust the APC government and alleviate poverty for Nigerians. He urged the residents of the senatorial district to vote overwhelmingly for the PDP in the elections. In contrast, Mr. Ade Adetimehin, the state chairman of the APC, asserted that all of the party’s candidates would emerge victorious. He stated, “We are ready for the election. We don’t have a crisis; we are not divided, and we are outperforming all other candidates in the elections.”
