The Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Council Spokesman, Charles Aniagwu, has responded to comments made by Ayodele Adewale, the Lagos State Organising Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC). During a recent appearance on Arise TV, Adewale suggested that the bullion vans seen entering Bola Tinubu’s residence on the eve of the 2019 presidential election “missed” their “way there.” In his reaction, Aniagwu criticized the media handlers of the APC presidential candidate, questioning whether the drivers of the bullion vans had consumed alcohol to have lost their way.
Adewale stated, “On the bullion van or no bullion van and all of that, I think that matter has been put to rest. There was no money in the bullion van. The bullion vans that even came missed their way to have come there.” He further claimed, “I was in that house on that very day and it was not on an election day. The bullion vans missed their way to have come there.” He added that some companies with a large number of employees pay their staff in cash, implying that the bullion van’s presence was uninvited and coincidental.
In an interview on Arise TV on Saturday, Aniagwu remarked, “If you recall the issue of the bullion van which today they are telling us missed its way. I don’t know when a bullion van forgot the location of a bank, because a bullion van is supposed to move within the Central Bank of Nigeria and other commercial banks. For ‘bullion van persons’ not to understand that Tinubu’s house is not a bank is perplexing.” He pointed out that even the policemen and security personnel accompanying the bullion van also seemed to have lost their way.
Aniagwu further noted that Tinubu himself had previously claimed it was not anyone’s business if a bullion van came to his house. He emphasized that this admission indicates that Tinubu’s media handlers need to reassess their statements, especially since the candidate himself has acknowledged the situation. “They are now telling us that those bullion van drivers took ogogoro and did not know the direction to their banks and decided to end up at Tinubu’s house,” Aniagwu concluded.
