Senator Ali Ndume, representing Borno South, has voiced a striking claim that former President Muhammadu Buhari was not fully in control of his government. According to Ndume, Buhari played a more supervisory role, in contrast to the authoritative leadership of President Bola Tinubu.

Buhari held the Nigerian presidency from 2015 and served for eight years before handing over to his party ally, Tinubu, in 2023. However, during Buhari’s second tenure, many Nigerians expressed the sentiment that his presence was not strongly felt.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Ndume reiterated his stance, emphasizing the presence of individuals with corrupt tendencies in the previous administration. “The current President is assertive. He assumes control, unlike our former President. The former President would simply delegate tasks without thorough supervision,” Ndume remarked.

Highlighting what he perceives as a critical flaw, Ndume stated, “That was the mistake President Buhari made. He has even recently admitted that there were more corrupt individuals in his government than those genuinely committed to the nation’s well-being.”
