Stakeholders of the Benue All Progressives Congress, APC, led by former Senate President, Senator Ameh Ebute, have unequivocally denounced the recent attacks on Governor Hyacinth Allia by local government chairpersons and the State party chairman. This disavowal was articulated in a communique delivered by Chief Ebute in Makurdi, expressing deep discontent with the content of a communique by APC local government chairpersons and the contentious resolution of the party, leveling accusations of disrespect to party structures in the state at Governor Allia.
The stakeholders deplored the actions of the local government party chairpersons and the party executive committee, specifically condemning their failure to exhaust all necessary avenues for internal resolution before resorting to unnecessary media spectacle, which needlessly aggravated what could have been handled internally within the party. They directly addressed the communiqué circulated on social media by the APC local government chairpersons and the resolution of the State Working Committee concerning leadership, meetings, and party activities. The stakeholders perceived these actions as a calculated ploy to divert Governor Allia from delivering on his campaign promises to the people.
Recalling the numerous critical and strategic stakeholders’ meetings convened at the behest of Governor Allia, where party elders and executives expressed unwavering confidence in the governor and commended his inclusive leadership style, the stakeholders underscored the need to publicly address the issue. They urged all concerned party members to refrain from further public pronouncements and implored them to halt any impending actions that may exacerbate disunity within the party.
The stakeholders issued a compelling call to the local government chairpersons and the state executive committee of the party to cease further actions, thereby allowing the elders and major stakeholders to mediate and proffer viable solutions to all outstanding grievances.
