Kogi Guber: Action Alliance disowns candidate’s petition against Gov-elect

The Action Alliance Distances Itself from Candidate’s Petition Against Kogi Governor-elect

The Action Alliance (AA) has opted not to challenge the results of the Kogi State Governorship Election held on November 11th, 2023, as confirmed during an emergency National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting. The party’s national chairman, Hon (Dr) Adekunle Rufai Omoaje, clarified this position during a press conference held in Abuja.

Omoaje highlighted the party’s decision to disassociate itself from a legal suit filed at the Kogi State Governorship Election Petition, contesting the election outcome. He emphasized that the Action Alliance has no intention of pursuing legal action against the Governor-elect, Alhaji Usman Ododo.

The national chairman pointed out that the candidate for the election, Olayinka Ibrahimoh, took actions without consulting the party. Omoaje expressed dissatisfaction with Ibrahimoh’s unilateral approach to the judiciary, highlighting the candidate’s deliberate detachment from the party’s leadership.

“From the moment INEC published the final list of candidates for the Kogi gubernatorial election, Olayinka Ibrahimoh, our adopted candidate for that election deliberately built an edge around himself against the party, making it difficult to relate with him,” Omoaje stated.

He further detailed the party’s efforts to engage with Ibrahimoh, citing the candidate’s refusal to collaborate with the party’s leadership. Omoaje narrated an incident involving the Deputy National Chairman, Alhaji Ibrahim Isa, who was left without communication during his team’s stay in Kogi State.

In reaffirming the party’s official stance on the legal challenge, Omoaje asserted, “Consequent upon the aforementioned, we are stating clearly here that our party, the Action Alliance, has no hand in the matter before the Kogi State governorship election tribunal, and we say unequivocally that we are not interested in the matter at all.”
