Kaduna Governor Denies 2027 Election Endorsement Claims

Kaduna Governor Denies Endorsing Candidates for 2027 Elections, Calls Reports Fabricated

Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has categorically denied allegations that he has endorsed candidates for the 2027 general elections, describing the circulating reports as false and politically motivated fabrications.

The denial was issued in a statement by the state’s Commissioner for Information, Ahmed Maiyaki, which urged the public to disregard the claims in their entirety. The statement clarified that Governor Sani has neither endorsed nor provided preferential support to any individual seeking elective office.

According to the government statement, Governor Sani remains firmly committed to democratic principles and the established constitutional processes of political parties. He believes in a transparent, fair, and inclusive system where party members and stakeholders determine candidates through proper internal mechanisms, not through premature external directives.

The statement emphasized that the governor’s current focus is on governance and the implementation of policies and programmes designed to improve the welfare of Kaduna State’s citizens, not on election-related endorsements.

The state government also issued a stern warning against the deliberate spread of fake news and politically motivated misinformation. It noted that such actions create unnecessary tension, mislead the public, and undermine the state’s political stability. Political actors, supporters, and the general public were urged to verify all information from credible and official sources before sharing it, with responsible communication highlighted as essential for peace.

Reaffirming his stance, Governor Sani committed to respecting the democratic rights of all aspirants and party members, ensuring that due process and the rule of law guide all political activities within Kaduna State.

The denial addresses a critical issue in Nigeria’s political landscape, where allegations of pre-election endorsements by influential figures can shape party dynamics and public perception years ahead of the polls. By firmly rejecting the report and reiterating his support for intra-party democracy, Governor Sani’s administration seeks to counter misinformation and reinforce procedural integrity as the 2027 election cycle gradually approaches. The statement underscores an ongoing effort to manage political narratives and maintain focus on governance ahead of the next electoral contest.
